Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store and support the delivery of health, beauty and convenience services to your community. You will assist the pharmacist with prescription dispensing, customer service and the day‑to‑day operations of the pharmacy.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information and manage cash register transactions.
• Prepare, count, measure, package and label prescriptions according to pharmacy standards.
• Enter new prescriptions and refill requests into the pharmacy system and maintain accurate records.
• Refer clinical inquiries and counseling needs to the pharmacist.
• Receive and process new and repeat prescription orders, including third‑party billing.
• Answer phones, manage incoming faxes and coordinate callbacks with the pharmacist.
• Adhere to confidentiality, privacy and all pharmacy standards of practice.
• File completed documentation accurately and maintain the dispensary workspace.

Required profile

• High school diploma; pharmacy assistant course diploma preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience is an asset.
• Strong organizational abilities and capacity to multitask.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain privacy standards.
