Pet Groomer & Salon Trainer – Salon Experience Lead

About the role

PetSmart is seeking a Salon Experience Lead who will both groom pets and train salon staff. The role combines hands‑on pet grooming with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality service for pet parents while developing a skilled team of bathers and stylists.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver full‑menu grooming services, including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing and sanitary care.
• Train, onboard and mentor new bathers and stylists through the certification program.
• Provide performance feedback, conduct reviews, and manage promotions or disciplinary actions.
• Handle pet‑parent inquiries in‑store, by phone or online, recommending appropriate wellness solutions.
• Drive re‑booking and promote marketing offers at checkout.
• Maintain store standards, ensure compliance with policies and use salon booking tools effectively.

Required profile

• Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong knowledge of breed‑specific care.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a team in a retail environment.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complaints, grievances and associate engagement.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard grooming techniques (bath, brush, nail trim, teeth brushing, sanitary services).
• Experience using salon booking systems and call‑log tools.
• Capability to train and certify staff in grooming procedures.
