Payroll & HR Systems Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll & HR Systems Specialist to manage end‑to‑end payroll for our Canadian and U.S. workforce, ensure compliance, and continuously improve our payroll and HR technology landscape. The role sits at the intersection of HR, Finance and Operations, supporting a fast‑growing medical‑technology company.

Key responsibilities

• Process and reconcile payroll for employees in Canada and the United States, handling hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, commissions, deductions and year‑end activities.
• Coordinate international payroll changes with local payroll and bookkeeping partners, ensuring timely and accurate data transmission.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert for payroll and HR systems, supporting implementations, integrations, upgrades, testing and documentation.
• Maintain data integrity across payroll, HRIS, benefits, finance, commission, time‑off and equity administration systems through regular validation, audits and reconciliations.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Sales Operations and external vendors on payroll reporting, tax filings, audit support and process automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing payroll operations in Canada and the United States, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and tax requirements.
• Experience coordinating payroll for international employees and working with external payroll providers.
• Demonstrated ability to act as a systems expert, supporting HRIS and payroll system enhancements.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data accuracy, process improvement and cross‑functional collaboration.
