Overhead Crane Technician / Industrial Electrician

About the role

Konecranes, a global leader in material handling solutions, is hiring a full-time Overhead Crane Technician / Industrial Electrician in Saskatoon, SK. The role involves inspecting, maintaining and repairing electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at customer sites, with on-call availability and after-hours service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at varied customer locations, following corporate safety policies and branch monthly meetings.
• Carry out on-site electrical, mechanical, structural and electronic troubleshooting using visual inspection, test procedures and test equipment, then perform a post-repair audit and document safety features or deficiencies.
• Document findings and safety concerns during the customer safety review, advise on repairs needed and obtain customer signatures on electronic work documentation.
• Complete work packages and other required documents accurately and on time, and keep in regular contact with the service office and assigned coordinator.
• Maintain company equipment, vehicles and assets, keep the service vehicle stocked, and follow all safety rules and regulations (CSA, OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, etc.).
• Work overtime and travel out of town as required.

Required profile

• A recognized trade qualification as a Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Millwright or equivalent, or an Associate's degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology with equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance or service experience, preferably with overhead cranes, hoists or material handling equipment.
• Good driving record and valid driver's licence; willing and able to work at heights, climb ladders and walkways, and to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs less often.
• Excellent customer interaction skills, good computer, written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to work overtime and travel.
• Ability to comply with regulatory training such as working-at-heights regulations.

Required skills

• Electrical, mechanical, structural and electronic troubleshooting of cranes and hoists.
• Knowledge of CSA standards for overhead lifting equipment is an asset.
