Operations Discovery Trainee - Project Management

About the role

ABB's Discovery Program is a two-year rotational development program for recent graduates, offering cross-functional exposure. As an Operations Discovery Trainee, you will take part in two rotations, including hands-on project management and order management. The role supports Operations and Project Execution in ELDS in Canada, working with external ELDS, internal operations and external customers, and follows a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of small projects, making sure activities follow procedures, regulations, standards, specifications and targets
• Apply basic project scheduling techniques to manage schedule risks proactively
• Prepare accurate customer quotations, process orders efficiently and keep information flowing between sales, operations and customers
• Take increasing ownership of leading project teams and coordinate activities across functions
• Monitor project progress, schedules, resource use and project financials, with guidance from experienced Project Managers and the PMO team
• Help identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities
• Support project completion, including formal customer acceptance, contract close-out and customer acknowledgment
• Enter and manage customer purchase orders accurately in the ERP/CRM system
• Coordinate with production, logistics and supply chain teams for on-time fulfillment, monitor order progress and resolve delays
• Issue order confirmations, shipping documents and invoices when required

Required profile

• Recent graduate (2025-2027) with a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or a related engineering/technical field
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Interest in technology, infrastructure solutions and the sustainable energy transition
