Occupational Therapist

About the role

This position is a member of the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) at CMHA Kenora. The Occupational Therapist provides assessment, planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation and support services for clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses, including vocational and concurrent disorders support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of activities of daily living and present findings within the first three months of client admission.
• Develop, implement and monitor individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
• Provide crisis intervention, advocacy and case management for assigned clients and families.
• Facilitate and lead group and individual leisure activities, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Maintain client confidentiality, accurate records and professional qualifications.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and committees while ensuring workplace health and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Registered or eligible for registration as an occupational therapist.
• Knowledge of mental health conditions, treatment modalities and vocational rehabilitation.
• Strong assessment, treatment planning and evaluation skills.
• Cultural competence for diverse populations.
• Working knowledge of community resources and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Computer literacy, valid driver’s licence and willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
