Occupational Health Nurse

About the role

The Occupational Health Nurse will serve as the primary medical professional at the Florenceville plant, reporting to the Human Resources Manager and working closely with plant leadership to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑aid and emergency medical treatment for accidents or illnesses, coordinating further care with physicians or hospitals as needed.
• Administer Workers’ Compensation claims and manage the company’s return‑to‑work program.
• Develop, implement, and oversee occupational health programs, including hearing conservation, wellness initiatives, and drug‑free workplace training.
• Maintain confidential, up‑to‑date medical and OSHA records for the site.
• Conduct and coordinate training on CPR, first aid, blood‑borne pathogens, ergonomics, respiratory protection, fit testing, and other medical surveillance activities.
• Support functional job analysis updates, post‑work employment screenings, and onsite Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as required.
• Collaborate with HR and plant management to create health and safety policies, conduct audits, and address environmental or ergonomic hazards.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Nursing degree from a registered nursing program.
• Minimum 4 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse or 2 years as a Registered Nurse with occupational health experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with industrial safety, ergonomic programs, health & wellness initiatives, and Workers’ Compensation laws.
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, and accreditation to manage a hearing conservation program.
