Nursing Champion – Clinical HIS Implementation

About the role

The Nursing Champion is a site‑based clinical leadership position that supports the planning and implementation of a modern Health Information System (HIS) across three WHCA hospitals. The role bridges bedside nursing practice with the HIS project team, ensuring that digital tools reflect real‑world workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary nursing voice for HIS design, workflow analysis, and configuration at the assigned hospital.
• Participate in current‑state and future‑state nursing workflow assessments and validate order sets, documentation templates, and care plans.
• Engage in system and user‑acceptance testing, documenting and escalating nursing‑related issues.
• Support creation of nursing‑specific training materials, provide peer coaching, and offer on‑the‑floor assistance during go‑live.
• Identify and mentor super‑users and informal nurse leaders to champion the new system.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current clinical experience on the unit.
• Interest in digital health, clinical informatics, and system transformation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with interdisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to analyse workflows and propose practical improvements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Health Information Systems (HIS) and clinical documentation processes.
