Millwright / Maintenance Technician

About the role

Ditech Testing, which was acquired by Manchester Tank on 30 June 2024 and joined the McWane family of companies, is hiring a Millwright / Maintenance Technician in Scoudouc. The role maintains, troubleshoots and repairs plant equipment so that production runs safely, reliably and efficiently, supporting preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical repair, maintenance and installation of machinery, tools and industrial equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical issues, inspect equipment and diagnose root causes of failures
• Perform welding, cutting and fabrication when required, and maintain tools and equipment in safe condition
• Support major equipment overhauls and rebuilds, and carry out routine preventive maintenance according to schedules
• Document maintenance tasks, repairs and parts used, and recommend improvements to reduce breakdowns
• Follow EHS policies, lock-out/tag-out procedures and safety standards, and report hazards promptly
• Assist production teams with setup, changeovers and adjustments, and help install and commission new machinery

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair or millwright work
• Millwright trade certification or relevant industrial maintenance experience is an asset
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, manuals and schematics, and strong independent troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities
• Computer literacy for maintenance documentation and ability to do measurements and tolerances calculations
• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, occasional kneeling in confined spaces, and lifting items over 50 lbs with assistance
• Willingness to work overtime or respond to urgent maintenance needs

Required skills

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and basic electrical
• Experience with welding, cutting and fabrication preferred
• Use of PPE such as safety footwear, gloves and eye protection in a noisy industrial setting
