Medical Laboratory Assistant – Part‑Time

About the role

The Laboratory Department at Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking one regular part‑time Medical Laboratory Assistant. This unionized position (OPSEU – Local 236) supports daily laboratory operations and ensures accurate test processing.

Key responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and electrocardiograms (ECG) on patients.
• Manage the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for pre‑ and post‑analytical procedures.
• Maintain compliance with IQMH and provincial lab licensing standards.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and prioritize conflicting demands.
• Work both independently and collaboratively across various hospital units.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
• Ontario Society of Medical Technology (OSMT) or CSMLS Lab Assistant certification.
• Availability for all shifts, including weekends, as per collective agreement.
• Successful completion of police vulnerable sector check and pre‑employment health assessment.

Required skills
