About the role
Gerdau is seeking a Mechanical Technologist Intern to join its Recycling team in Selkirk, Manitoba. This on‑site internship offers hands‑on experience in a leading steel production and recycling company.
Key responsibilities
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Work with outside vendors, consultants, and assist in managing contractors.
- Support engineers on capital‑expenditure improvement projects.
- Manage smaller non‑capex projects.
- Plan maintenance jobs and order parts.
- Participate in design projects.
Required profile
- At least two years completed in a Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology program (or currently enrolled).
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred 3.0 or higher).
- Leadership or extracurricular involvement is a plus.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work independently.
Required skills
- Experience with SolidWorks design software.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD (beneficial).
