Marine and Shipping Coordinator

About the role

The Marine and Shipping Coordinator will join Woodfibre LNG’s operations team to oversee all marine activities at the new LNG export terminal near Squamish, BC. Reporting to the Marine Manager, the role supports the transition from project execution to full‑scale operations, ensuring safe and efficient vessel movements, cargo handling and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for marine operations during commissioning and start‑up, including tug and barge contracts.
• Develop and implement marine operating, emergency response and traffic‑management plans.
• Coordinate all vessel arrivals, departures, berthing, mooring and cargo operations in line with terminal procedures.
• Maintain communication with LNG carriers, pilots, tugs, agents and other marine stakeholders.
• Monitor third‑party marine contracts, produce performance reports and conduct inspections/audits.
• Act as Alternate Port Facility Security Officer and serve as Terminal Representative for LNG carrier operations.
• Support HSSE team with marine safety requirements and TERMPOL recommendations.
• Assist maintenance, logistics and operations teams with marine transportation needs.

Required profile

• Experience in marine or shipping coordination for large‑scale industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of LNG terminal marine procedures, berthing and cargo handling.
• Familiarity with HSSE standards and emergency response planning.
• Ability to manage contracts with tugs, barges and other marine service providers.
• Strong communication skills with vessel operators, pilots and regulatory bodies.
