Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

About the role

Magna is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to support the development of industry‑leading automotive technologies. The role involves creating and improving processes for new products, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high quality and productivity across the manufacturing line.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement processes for new business and products.
• Quote new business opportunities and investigate equipment for continuous‑improvement projects.
• Apply root‑cause problem‑solving methods to address internal quality (ppm) and productivity (OEE) issues.
• Identify quality improvements and implement mistake‑proofing fixtures and devices.
• Prepare capital project proposals and acquire quotes for new equipment acquisitions.
• Conduct Engineering Feasibility Studies to evaluate labor and material cost‑saving opportunities.
• Initiate Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and keep all product documentation (FMEA, process flow charts, instruction sheets) up‑to‑date.
• Facilitate quality and productivity meetings, maintain meeting minutes, and update tracking documents for monthly Quality Operating System reviews.
• Identify and implement labour‑saving opportunities and maintain up‑to‑date plant layout drawings.
• Coordinate implementation of new production equipment, provide operator training, and act as the technical liaison between management and vendors.
• Update and obtain customer approval on packaging forms for carry‑over programs.

Required profile

• Experience in manufacturing engineering within an automotive or industrial environment.
• Proven ability to develop processes, conduct feasibility studies, and manage capital projects.
• Strong analytical skills for root‑cause analysis, quality improvement, and productivity enhancement.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with vendors, management, and production teams.
