Shear Operator – Metal Fabrication

About the role

The Shear Operator works in a sheet‑metal shop producing decorative metal parts. The role involves setting up, operating and maintaining a range of metal‑forming equipment while following specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain shears, punch presses, brakes and other metal‑shaping machines.
• Cut, bend, roll, punch and drill metal stock to produce finished components.
• Load and unload material manually or with cranes, hoists, lift trucks or forklifts.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and minor repairs on machinery.
• Read and interpret technical drawings or verbal instructions to ensure accurate production.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a noisy, fast‑paced environment and stand for long periods.
• Good manual dexterity, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Team‑oriented mindset with solid judgement and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Operation of industrial lift trucks and forklifts.
• Use of punch presses, shears, brakes and metal‑forming presses.
• Handling of metal cutting and bending machines.
• Experience with welding, soldering, bolting or riveting equipment.
