Maintenance Technician II – Industrial Equipment

About the role

UniFirst Canada is looking for a reliable Maintenance Technician II to join its Maintenance Department in Taber. You will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, installing and troubleshooting a variety of industrial equipment and systems in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Assist other maintenance staff with emergency and non‑emergency repairs.
• Diagnose and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and related control systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals and engineering specifications.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre‑treatment testing, record results and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Conduct daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and carry out required repairs.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluid levels, replace filters and execute other routine maintenance tasks.
• Carry out basic welding repairs on facilities and equipment.
• Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other components.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log work.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 18 years of age with a valid non‑commercial driver’s licence and a safe driving record.
• Pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment.
• High school diploma or GED (required); two‑year technical degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience repairing industrial processing equipment (military experience considered).
• 5th Class Power Engineer certification.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
