Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher (Grades 1‑3)

About the role

Toronto Children’s School of the Arts is seeking a passionate Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher to guide students aged 6‑9 in a prepared, art‑rich environment. The role blends Montessori pedagogy with the Ontario curriculum for Grades 1‑3, fostering independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging Montessori‑aligned lessons that meet Ontario curriculum standards.
• Observe, assess, and document student progress through portfolios and records.
• Support students in developing independence, responsibility, and self‑confidence.
• Prepare and maintain an orderly, enriched Montessori classroom.
• Collaborate with faculty to promote whole‑child development.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers.
• Participate in professional development and school community events.

Required profile

• Montessori Elementary Diploma from a MACTE‑accredited institution (AMI or AMS preferred).
• Bachelor of Education and current Ontario College of Teachers certification.
• Minimum two years of elementary teaching experience, preferably in a Montessori setting.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to anti‑bias, anti‑racism, and inclusive teaching practices.
• Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
