Line Cook - Canoe

About the role

Canoe, part of the Oliver & Bonacini family, is a fine dining restaurant in Toronto known for dishes made from the finest local ingredients. It is looking for a Line Cook who can prepare food to O&B standards, follow recipes and presentation specifications, and keep the kitchen clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Perform delegated tasks from the Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
• Prepare food for the event space day to day according to O&B standards
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications
• Maintain a prep list of station duties and follow the FIFO method to keep food fresh
• Assist with food inventory and control, and help receive and store deliveries
• Clean prep areas, equipment and utensils, and follow sanitation, food safety and hygiene guidelines
• Follow WHMIS and MSDS guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Required profile

• 2-3 years of experience in a fine dining, high-volume restaurant
• Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Able to spend 100% of the time standing
• Available evenings, weekends and holidays
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Required skills

• Basic understanding of professional cooking
• Knife handling skills
• Food Handlers Certificate is an asset
