Library Assistant

About the role

The Library Assistant will support La Crete Public School’s library by managing collections, assisting students and staff, and maintaining an inviting learning environment. This full‑time position works closely with other library staff during weekly class periods.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the circulation desk, scanning materials in and out.
• Repair books, collect overdue items, and conduct year‑end inventory.
• Maintain the library budget and purchase/catalogue new books and multimedia resources.
• Keep the library tidy and attractive, including displays and bulletin boards.
• Assist with author visits, student research, and technology use.
• Promote literacy initiatives throughout the school.

Required profile

• Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent).
• Post‑secondary coursework or experience in library services.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents while maintaining confidentiality.
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check and, if applicable, an Intervention Record Check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Google programs (e.g., Google Workspace).
