Labourer 3 – Soft Landscape Maintenance

About the role

UBC Facilities is seeking a Labourer 3 to join its Soft Landscape crew on the Vancouver campus. You will help maintain and renew lawns, shrub beds, and trees across 172 hectares of university grounds, ensuring a safe and sustainable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with soft‑landscape and general labour tasks using specialized equipment.
• Maintain, construct, and develop lawns and planted areas.
• Operate light, medium and heavy vehicles and a variety of landscape tools.
• Monitor and support a small team of labourers when assigned.
• Request tools, equipment, and materials needed for daily work.

Required profile

• Ability to perform physical work safely and efficiently.
• Willingness to follow safety procedures and complete required training.
• Flexibility to work with other crews as needed.

Required skills

• Operation of power washers, line trimmers, lawn mowers, backpack blowers.
• Use of jack hammers, tampers, concrete vibrators, coring and cutting equipment.
• Sandblasting equipment and bobcat operation.
• Light, medium and heavy vehicle operation.
