Laboratory Assistant (Float) – Part‑Time Contractor

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (Float) to join its Toronto‑area labs on a part‑time, 12‑month contract. You will process blood and other specimens, enter requisitions and results accurately, and provide compassionate customer service to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood, urine, drug, breath‑alcohol, and other specimens using proper venipuncture and collection techniques.
• Perform ECGs, Holter hookups, and paternity testing as required.
• Enter patient, test, and Ministry of Health requisition data into the laboratory information system.
• Sort and label specimens, ensure documentation complies with SOPs, and prepare samples for transport.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and contribute to departmental quality metrics.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and patient care.
• Reliability for day‑shift coverage (6:30 am – 5:30 pm) across multiple locations.
