About the role
The Whistle Stop Pub is looking for a reliable Kitchen Helper to join its busy kitchen team in Courtenay. This full‑time, permanent position involves supporting food preparation and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables.
- Operate dishwashers and hand‑wash dishes, glassware and flatware.
- Clear and clean tables, trays, chairs and kitchen work surfaces.
- Sanitize and clean kitchen equipment, cupboards, refrigerators and salad bars.
- Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers and dry storage.
- Package take‑out orders, portion and wrap foods.
- Stock condiments, replenish supplies and maintain inventory.
- Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors and handle kitchen waste.
Required profile
- No prior experience required – training will be provided.
- Flexible availability for early mornings, evenings, nights, days, weekends and overtime.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate loads.
- Basic understanding of food safety and cleaning procedures.
