Junior Accountant – Accounts Payable

About the role

The Junior Accountant/Accounts Payable will support the Controller and executive team in daily bookkeeping, month‑end close, and quarterly and annual reporting for a natural‑resource organization with TSXV‑listed companies. The role provides exposure to mining exploration and development finance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the monthly accounts payable cycle, ensuring timely payments and accurate bank reconciliations.
• Assist with the full accounting cycle, including month‑end processing, non‑routine transactions, and quarter‑end financial reporting.
• Support the annual audit by providing required documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Maintain proper approvals, documentation, and adherence to internal controls.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities using workflow automation and AI‑powered tools.
• Respond to inquiries from vendors and internal team members.
• Prepare regulatory filings and support special projects as requested.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping or a related field.
• Prior experience working with accounts payable or general accounting.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team player who can also work independently and think proactively.
• Flexibility to work extended hours during reporting periods.

Required skills

• Strong Excel proficiency.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Familiarity with workflow automation concepts.
