IT System Administrator

About the role

Waabi is looking for an IT Systems Administrator to join its growing IT Operations team in Toronto. The role focuses on Linux systems administration, networking, and end‑user support while helping to scale IT services across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, patch, and maintain Linux servers and workstations for engineering, R&D and office users.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and scripting (Bash/Python) for provisioning and configuration.
• Support and troubleshoot office and lab networking including switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, and VPN access.
• Provide onsite technical support for hardware, software, and network issues and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Administer endpoint management across Linux, Windows, and macOS using tools such as Microsoft Intune, JumpCloud or Jamf.
• Handle identity and access management via Okta, Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID, including SSO integrations.
• Maintain security hardening, patch management, compliance documentation and support audit activities.
• Document processes, create knowledge‑base articles and contribute to IT workflow automation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration, desktop support or IT operations.
• Strong hands‑on Linux administration (Ubuntu/Debian or RHEL/CentOS) and command‑line proficiency.
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS/DHCP, routing, firewalls, VPN) with experience troubleshooting switches and routers.
• Experience supporting Windows and macOS environments in a business setting.
• Familiarity with endpoint management platforms (Intune, JumpCloud, Jamf) and identity platforms (Okta, Google Workspace, Entra ID).
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation and lift up to ~50 lb.
