About the role
The Division of Gastroenterology at Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a full‑time gastroenterologist to join a team of 16 specialists serving both direct and tertiary referral populations in Victoria.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to a population of 375,000 and tertiary referrals for 800,000.
- Participate in paid on‑call coverage across four sites with the existing team.
- Establish and maintain a private community consultation practice.
- Teach medical students and residents and contribute to clinical research opportunities.
Required profile
- Board‑certified in Internal Medicine with gastroenterology specialization.
- Ability to work full‑time in an academic‑affiliated environment linked to the University of British Columbia.
- Willingness to engage in teaching and research activities.
Required skills
- Proficiency in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) – mandatory.
- Therapeutic endoscopy skills such as EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) – considered an asset.
