Intermediate Electrical Engineer

About the role

Spark Power is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join its Calgary team, supporting a wide range of power system projects for utility and industrial clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate electrical design, drafting, material procurement, construction and commissioning on projects.
• Prepare technical documents such as electrical drawings, single line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable schedules and specifications for medium and high voltage equipment.
• Perform and verify electrical design calculations and conduct power system studies, including arc‑flash analysis using ETAP or SKM.
• Provide field support to construction and site teams, and collaborate with senior engineers on reports and design reviews.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Electrical Engineering program and P.Eng. registration with APEGA.
• 4‑8 years of experience in utilities, processing, power generation or mining.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada and hold a clean Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, teamwork mindset and excellent communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ETAP or similar power system analysis software.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and international standards.
• Experience designing 120/208 VAC, 480 VAC, 600 VAC, medium‑voltage (4.16 kV‑25 kV) and high‑voltage (138 kV‑240 kV) systems.
