Production Manager – Hands‑On Manufacturing Leader

About the role

Lead a rebond carpet cushion manufacturing facility in Calgary, focusing on safety, employee engagement and continuous improvement. The role is highly visible on the shop floor, working directly with supervisors and operators to build trust and drive performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive the plant’s safety culture, leading daily huddles, toolbox talks and near‑miss reporting.
• Plan and oversee daily production activities to meet volume, quality, cost and delivery targets.
• Partner with Maintenance to maximise equipment uptime and minimise unplanned downtime.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks through observation, employee feedback and data analysis.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and apply Lean, Kaizen or Six Sigma principles to improve flow and reduce waste.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production or manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in foam, rubber or textiles.
• Proven success building or strengthening safety culture in a unionised environment.
• Strong people‑leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and hold employees accountable.
• Familiarity with Alberta OHS legislation and WHMIS requirements.

Required skills

• Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma methodologies (formal certification not required).
• Production scheduling, inventory flow and manufacturing cost drivers.
• Safety and compliance knowledge (Alberta OHS, WHMIS).
• Data‑driven problem solving and root‑cause analysis.
