Indigenous Peer Support Program Worker

About the role

The Indigenous Peer Support Program Worker provides culturally‑responsive support to Aboriginal clients, including seniors and street‑population members, within a community agency setting. This role involves direct assistance, advocacy, and coordination of services to help clients navigate health, housing and social systems.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare reports, case histories and conduct follow‑up assessments.
• Appraise client needs and eligibility for specific services.
• Implement behaviour‑management programs and assist in evaluating treatment effectiveness.
• Provide administrative support and perform routine office tasks.
• Accompany clients to appointments, social outings and assist those with special needs.
• Resolve conflict situations and ensure client safety.

Required profile

• College‑level certificate or diploma (1‑2 years) related to community services.
• 1–2 years of experience in community service or homeless services.
• First Aid Certificate and ability to pass criminal, child‑welfare and driver‑record checks.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment, with attention to detail and good judgement.
