Inclusive Child Care Worker

About the role

BGC Okanagan is seeking a full‑time Inclusive Child Care Worker to support children with a wide range of developmental and support needs. The role is part of the Inclusive Child Care (ICC) Model, a collaborative project with community partners aimed at making inclusive childcare accessible to all families. You will work in a childcare, after‑school or life‑skills setting across the Central Okanagan region.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in assessment, goal setting and program planning for each child.
• Deliver physical, recreational, educational, social and vocational activities tailored to individual needs.
• Implement inclusion strategies identified by the inclusive childcare consultant and documented in each child’s support plan.
• Monitor safety, manage potential emergencies, and report incidents to supervisors.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including daily case notes, statistical data and program reports.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians and communicate regularly about child progress.

Required profile

• Diploma in a human or social service field.
• Minimum one year of experience working with children and youth with support needs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel between sites.
• Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one.
• ECE or ECE Assistant certification is considered an asset.
