Import Clerk – Documentation & Shipment Coordination

About the role

The Import Clerk supports the Senior Manager, Import by ensuring accurate documentation for inbound and outbound shipments. This role is essential for maintaining smooth customs clearance, correct routing, and timely delivery of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Validate commercial invoices, packing lists, and purchase orders to create inbound delivery shipments.
• Calculate and verify carton weight and volume for each shipment.
• Confirm shipment routes and costs by validating key shipment information.
• Obtain and verify special certificates from vendors for customs compliance.
• Coordinate with customs brokers to transmit shipping data via EDI and documents via FTP.
• Liaise with vendors, carriers, freight forwarders, and transportation companies to ensure efficient movement of shipments.
• Work with the Inbound Logistics team to provide planned delivery dates to the Forecast team.
• Troubleshoot container movement issues and follow up with carriers for resolutions.
• Complete inbound and outbound shipment documentation for both import and direct sourcing shipments.

Required profile

• College Diploma (AEC) in Transportation, Logistics or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of experience in import/export or logistics.
• Strong analytical ability and keen attention to detail.
• Effective problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP (preferred).
• Experience with EDI and FTP file exchanges.
