Human Capital Business Partner

About the role

Agropur is hiring a Human Capital Business Partner in Truro, Nova Scotia. The role acts as a strategic advisor, labour relations expert and operational partner to plant management and employees, balancing business objectives, collective agreement compliance, legal compliance and a healthy work environment. It is a regular position.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with plant management and advise directors and managers in a unionized environment, and ensure the site's human capital action plan is executed.
• Apply the collective agreement and internal policies, support disciplinary management and manage the full grievance cycle, including arbitration when required.
• Take part in collective bargaining preparation and support managers in change management.
• Support fair application of HR rules, develop managers' labour relations skills and advise on complex issues such as absences, performance and conflicts.
• Support staffing, internal movement and seniority processes, performance management and skills development, and help new employees integrate.
• Work with OHS teams on injuries, disabilities and accommodations, and apply absence, insurance and return-to-work clauses.
• Monitor work climate, grievances, absenteeism and turnover, and act as an intermediary between management and the union.
• Ensure compliance with labour laws and OHS standards, apply HR practices consistently and use HR data to support decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Business Administration, major in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations.
• Five years of experience as a generalist in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Sound command of spoken and written English; French is required for Quebec positions.
• Certified HR professional (an asset).
• Willingness to travel as required.
