Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

Knappett Industries is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join its team for ongoing civil construction projects in Port Alberni, BC. The successful candidate will operate a range of equipment safely and efficiently while contributing to a positive, team‑oriented work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols and support the safety program.
• Operate grading, trenching, backfilling and ditching equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily pre‑ and post‑inspections and routine maintenance.
• Keep machines clean and report any repairs or damage immediately.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment experience in civil construction and municipal upgrade projects.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year‑round.
• Physically fit, able to lift 50 lb or more and perform extensive physical labour.
• Valid provincial driver’s licence and professional demeanor when interacting with the public, crew and clients.
