Heavy Civil Site Superintendent

About the role

Our client, a leading heavy civil contractor in the Greater Toronto Area, is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead municipal and provincial infrastructure projects. You will oversee daily site operations, manage crews and subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all day‑to‑day site activities on heavy civil construction projects.
• Lead crews, subcontractors, and field personnel to maintain safety and productivity.
• Coordinate schedules, manpower, equipment, and material deliveries.
• Ensure work complies with specifications, drawings, quality standards, and contract requirements.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce regulatory compliance.
• Conduct site meetings, toolbox talks, and daily planning sessions.
• Monitor progress, identify field issues early, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, consultants, and clients.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports and safety records.
• Support cost‑control by tracking labour productivity and resource utilization.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years as a Superintendent or Site Supervisor on heavy civil infrastructure.
• Experience delivering municipal projects such as roads, watermain, sewer, storm sewer, and grading.
• Mandatory experience on Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) projects with strong knowledge of MTO specifications and contract requirements.
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a clean record.

Required skills

• Gold Seal Certification, COR knowledge, First Aid/CPR, and health‑and‑safety training.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Proficiency with project documentation and reporting tools.
