Health Care Aide

About the role

The Health Care Aide (HCA) joins a multidisciplinary team to provide personal assistance and support services to patients requiring short‑term or ongoing care. Working in home, community, and health‑care facilities, the HCA helps patients maintain hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety according to care plans.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nurses with routine care, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support.
• Support patients in daily living activities and organized programs.
• Observe and report on patients' mood, health status, and wellbeing.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and health‑care professionals.

Required profile

• Active or eligible registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide.
• Proof of education or completion of a Health Care Aide certificate within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to work under supervision of a regulated health professional.
