General Helper – Remote Camp (Nunavut)

About the role

The General Helper is essential to the culinary team at a remote camp in Nunavut. Working a variety of shifts, you will keep the kitchen operating smoothly and ensure a safe, clean environment for staff and guests.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and follow all Covid‑related safety protocols.
• Provide consistent service to guests using the camp’s dining facilities.
• Keep workstations clean and organized throughout each shift.
• Clean and sanitize all areas of the kitchen complex, including lunchrooms, dining rooms, servery, ware‑wash area, main kitchen, walk‑in coolers and storage spaces.
• Sweep and mop floors regularly.
• Stock food, beverage and disposable supplies as needed.
• Dispose of garbage, cardboard and recyclables appropriately.
• Perform ware‑washing duties: collect, wash and return dishes, cutlery, pots and other items.
• Complete HACCP logs, label, date and rotate products, and carry out weekly/monthly deep‑cleaning tasks.

Required profile

• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including split, night, early‑morning and late‑night shifts.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning, lifting and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to hygiene, safety and detail.
• Reliable, team‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP).
• Ability to operate ware‑washing equipment safely.
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to sanitation procedures.
