General Helper A – Casual Support Role

About the role

The General Helper A provides essential support in McGill’s student dining facilities. Working under the supervision of the Dining Hall Supervisor or Chef, you will help keep the kitchen environment clean and safe throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize cooking utensils, equipment, and work surfaces.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
• Assist with basic food‑service tasks as directed.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Adapt to variable shifts, including day, evening, night and weekend schedules.

Required profile

• High School Leaving Diploma.
• At least three months of related experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting.
• Strong communication abilities in both English and French (reading, writing and speaking).
• Ability to work flexible hours up to 38.75 hours per week.

Required skills

• English language proficiency.
• French language proficiency.
