About the role
We are looking for a full‑time Cook to join Sushiwood in Nelson, BC. This permanent position involves preparing and cooking complete meals, handling special dietary requests, and supporting the kitchen team in a busy restaurant environment. The employer is recognized under government programs and offers on‑the‑job training tailored to youth.
Key responsibilities
- Determine portion sizes and associated costs for menu items.
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies and maintain inventory records of food, supplies and equipment.
- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes, including options for customers with allergies or intolerances.
- Train staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe handling practices.
- Provide awareness training to foster a welcoming work environment for youth employees.
- Keep the kitchen and work areas clean and organized.
Required profile
- Secondary school graduation certificate.
- 2 to less than 3 years of relevant cooking experience.
- Willingness to participate in on‑the‑job training programs for youth.
