Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

As a Full Stack Software Engineer you will join Scotiabank’s digital banking team, expanding the Tangerine platform used by millions of customers daily. You will work in a collaborative, high‑performing environment to deliver world‑class digital products.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end development of key product features, from design to production.
• Collaborate directly with product managers and designers to translate requirements into code.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code and take operational responsibility for the components you build.
• Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and security.
• Identify and advocate for improvements in technology, processes, and tools.
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years of production‑level coding.
• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Java (8/17/21) and Spring Boot for building REST APIs and microservices.
• Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and SOLID design principles.
• Unit testing with JUnit and Jest.
• Front‑end development with React (Hooks, Context, Redux Toolkit) and component‑based UI design.
• Node.js, NPM, and webpack.
• SQL expertise – writing optimized queries, joins, views, and stored procedures.
• CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions; solid Git version control.
• Cloud platforms AWS or Azure and related services.
• Monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
