Framer/Carpenter

About the role

The Framer/Carpenter will work on a variety of construction sites, interpreting plans and building structural components for residential and commercial projects. This role requires hands‑on craftsmanship, adherence to building codes, and the ability to work in noisy, dusty environments.

Key responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts that conform to building codes using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub‑flooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation.
• 2–3 years of relevant construction experience.
• Physical ability to bend, crouch, kneel and perform a combination of sitting, standing and walking.
• Reliability, accuracy and excellent oral communication.
• Own steel‑toed safety boots.

Required skills

• Blueprint reading.
• Measuring and layout preparation.
• Cutting and shaping of wood and lightweight steel.
• Installation of windows, doors, stairs and related hardware.
