Financial Analyst – 2 Year Contract

About the role

The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission seeks a Financial Analyst on a two‑year contract to prepare, monitor, and report financial and statistical data for internal and external stakeholders. You will support Cost Centre Managers and Executives with timely, accurate financial information to aid decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly divisional financial statements and analyse budget‑to‑actual variances, providing written commentary.
• Monitor and reconcile divisional revenue streams, ensuring accurate reporting of earned and unearned revenues.
• Develop and maintain quarterly forecasts using financial models, analysing trends for budget adjustments.
• Assist in the creation of annual budgets and three‑year business plans, supporting Ministry reporting requirements.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve divisional performance and support strategic decisions.
• Conduct scenario analysis for projects, develop cost models, business cases, and financial studies.
• Support Business Analysis, Planning, and Intelligence teams with KPI data and budget availability.
• Complete special assignments such as statistical reporting, journal entries, audit support, and training documentation.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2‑3 years of experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role.
• CPA designation required or in progress.
• Strong knowledge of accounting practices and detail‑oriented analytical skills.
