About the role
The Field Supervisor supports student teachers throughout their practicum in the Greater Montreal region. Working closely with cooperating teachers and host schools, the supervisor ensures high‑quality mentorship, assessment, and alignment with McGill University policies.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with cooperating teachers to mentor and guide student teachers.
- Observe, assess, and provide oral and written feedback on student teachers’ professional competencies.
- Communicate proactively with host schools, mediating challenges as they arise.
- Serve as a liaison between McGill and host schools, enforcing university policies and placement guidelines.
- Mentor new Field Supervisors as the role evolves.
Required profile
- Minimum five years of experience in an elementary or high‑school setting, preferably in Quebec.
- Deep knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and related curriculum documents.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time‑management abilities.
- Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and facilitate challenging conversations.
- Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel up to one hour to host schools.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat/Reader for fillable PDFs.
- Comfort with web‑based forms and online assessment tools.
