Field Service Technician (Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic)

About the role

Sandvik Mining is looking for a licensed Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its Field Service team on a permanent basis. The role involves travelling on a 2‑weeks‑in/2‑weeks‑out schedule to service and commission underground mining equipment at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, automation, and pneumatic components on underground mining equipment.
• Plan and gather the correct tools and parts required for each task, following established work procedures.
• Commission new equipment, including pre‑delivery inspections and hot commissioning at customer locations.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis to identify recurring issues and provide first‑line support.
• Prepare detailed maintenance and repair reports for internal and external stakeholders and obtain customer authorization for invoicing.
• Provide technical feedback to the sales area and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Guide junior staff, assign simple tasks, and coach customer technicians on basic servicing principles.

Required profile

• Valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
• Willingness to work a 2‑weeks‑in/2‑weeks‑out schedule and travel across Canada.
• Ability to work safely in compliance with Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology safety policies and relevant regulations.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams.
