Executive Director – Renewable Resources Board

About the role

The Gwich’in Renewable Resources Board (GRRB) is seeking a motivated Executive Director to lead daily operations, manage resources, and strengthen co‑management partnerships in the Northwest Territories.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all Board operations, including human resources, recruitment, supervision and performance management.
• Manage an operating budget of approximately CAD 1.5 million and supervise the Wildlife Studies Fund (CAD 3 million) with investment managers.
• Maintain respectful relationships with co‑management partners and ensure compliance with annual reporting requirements.
• Pursue additional funding, administer financial contribution agreements, and allocate annual project funds from the WSF.
• Organise Board meetings (two face‑to‑face and four teleconferences per year) and manage sub‑committee meetings, ensuring accurate minutes and briefing documents.
• Implement Board decisions through staff work plans and provide advice and guidance to Board members as needed.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in biology, administration or related field (master’s preferred).
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in resource management, human resources and financial administration.
• Strong understanding of the Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement.
• Northwest Territories Class 5 driver’s licence, security clearance and eligibility to work in Canada.
