Executive Director, PTSI Centre of Excellence

About the role

The Executive Director will lead the creation and operationalisation of Canada’s first dedicated Post‑Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) Centre of Excellence for first responders and frontline healthcare workers. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Executive and Chief Clinical Programs, the role spans design, implementation, facility activation and long‑term stabilisation of both outpatient and residential sites. The position also shapes research, education and knowledge‑sharing strategies to advance evidence‑informed practice.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the clinical and operational model for the PTSI Centre, including workforce planning, partnerships and performance measurement.
• Oversee the activation of two purpose‑built facilities – an outpatient clinic in Toronto and a 40‑bed residential recovery centre in Peel Region.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring trauma‑informed, rehabilitation‑focused care across prevention, treatment, recovery and return‑to‑work pathways.
• Champion research, education and knowledge translation in collaboration with academic institutions, clinicians and system partners.
• Build and maintain relationships with clinicians, researchers, government, funding partners and first‑responder communities.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a related field with extensive mental‑health and trauma experience.
• Direct experience working with PTSI, Operational Stress Injury or similar first‑responder mental‑health populations.
• Proven track record of developing and operationalising complex clinical programs or services.
• Strong strategic vision combined with operational discipline to navigate complex healthcare environments.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with clinicians, researchers, government agencies and community stakeholders.
