Executive Director, Association of Justice Counsel

About the role

The Executive Director serves as the senior staff leader of the Association of Justice Counsel (AJC), overseeing the overall management and administration of the organization. Reporting to the President and working under the strategic direction of the Executive Committee and Governing Council, the role ensures effective delivery of services to AJC members and elected leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the senior management team and implement strategic priorities, policies, and objectives set by the Governing Council.
• Oversee AJC’s operations, programs, services, and resources to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
• Promote sound governance, financial stewardship, and organisational effectiveness.
• Maintain labour‑relations excellence and foster strong stakeholder engagement.
• Guide succession planning, workplace relationship building, and organisational stability.

Required profile

• Lawyer in good standing with a Canadian law society.
• Fluently bilingual in English and French with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Significant executive leadership experience in a unionized environment.
• Deep expertise in labour law, labour relations, collective bargaining, and the federal labour‑relations framework.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing professional teams and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
