Estimator

About the role

The Estimator will support Surespanca by preparing accurate cost proposals for civil and heavy‑civil projects. This position involves detailed analysis of contract documents, risk assessment, and coordination with subcontractors to ensure competitive and compliant bids.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse contract documents and specifications to identify project requirements, bonding, insurance, and risk factors.
• Perform full quantity take‑offs for labour, equipment and materials to guarantee pricing accuracy.
• Develop a critical‑path schedule aligning milestone dates with contract completion targets.
• Solicit and compare pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best rates.
• Prepare final cost estimates using Bid2Win software or Excel templates, incorporating overhead, profit margins and all pricing data.
• Assemble and submit tender documents to clients, meeting all deadline requirements.
• Liaise with external consultants, subcontractors and project managers throughout the tender development process.
• Review project scope, schedule and budget to flag potential risks before and during execution.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of construction experience, preferably in estimating or project management.
• College diploma or university degree in engineering or construction management is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Experience with civil or heavy‑civil contractors in natural resources (forestry, mining, oil & gas) or public infrastructure sectors.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
• Experience with Bid2Win estimating software (or similar).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, On‑Screen Takeoff or Bluebeam for digital take‑offs.
• Strong understanding of construction specifications, methods and procedures.
