Environmental Services Manager – Long Term Care

About the role

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant living environment for residents of Southbridge Care Homes in Ottawa. Reporting to the Executive Director, this full‑time position oversees housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and health‑and‑safety programs across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Create and sustain a safe, secure home environment for all residents.
• Recruit, hire, and manage departmental staff, including performance reviews and development.
• Supervise contractors to ensure contractual obligations and regulatory compliance are met.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, inventory, and procurement of supplies and equipment.
• Maintain policy and procedure manuals and ensure adherence to FLTCA, public health, and Southbridge regulations.
• Lead contract tendering processes in collaboration with consultants and the Executive Director.
• Oversee the departmental safety program, preventative maintenance, and equipment repairs.
• Produce required documentation, statistics, and reports in line with legislation and standards.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education with an Environmental Services certificate or equivalent long‑term care operational experience.
• Minimum two years of managerial or supervisory experience, preferably in a long‑term care setting.
• Experience managing human and financial resources; health‑and‑safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a rotational weekend schedule and be on call for emergencies.
