Engine Technician - Aviation

About the role

Kenn Borek Air (KBA), a worldwide aircraft charter and leasing operator, is hiring an Engine Technician for its Maintenance team's Engine Department in Calgary, Alberta. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with the possibility of overtime on weekends for project-based work.

Key responsibilities

• Complete assembly, disassembly, inspection and balancing of gas turbine engines and their components according to manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
• Work in line with company policies, quality procedures, manufacturer and customer specifications, and industry regulations.
• Carry out visual inspections, detailed inspections, borescope inspections, balance rotation components, and perform hot section repairs.
• Perform flow testing of fuel nozzle components and assemblies, prepare engines for dispatch, and receive incoming engines.
• Take care of precision tools, measuring equipment and shop tooling, and report hazards and incidents while keeping the work area clean and organized.
• Communicate accurately with inspectors, planners, supervisors and other technicians, and take part in Lean, 5S and process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent, with demonstrated mechanical aptitude; aerospace-related education, especially an Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician course, preferred.
• Ability to read engine manuals, service bulletins, drawings and work orders, and to work in teams and follow safety and quality systems.
• PT6A shop or related turbine engine experience is an asset.
• Able to obtain a Transport Canada Airport Restricted Area Pass.
• Negative drug and alcohol screening is a condition of employment.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Transport Canada, aviation maintenance, quality and SMS requirements.
• Basic computer literacy and use of computer-based maintenance systems.
• Basic hand tools.
