Emergency Medicine Physician – Kelowna General Hospital

About the role

Kelowna General Hospital is seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to join its vibrant, high‑volume Emergency Department. The role offers the chance to practice in a tertiary referral centre serving over 100,000 annual ED visits, with exposure to trauma, complex medical cases, and advanced cardiac critical care services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care to a diverse patient population.
• Participate in trauma resuscitations, cardiac critical care, and stroke referrals.
• Collaborate with consultants and specialists across the hospital on a first‑name basis.
• Engage in bedside teaching, simulation sessions, Grand Rounds, and journal clubs.
• Contribute to the academic environment through mentorship and resident education.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC or equivalent).
• Strong clinical judgment with experience in high‑acuity settings.
• Commitment to teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning.
• Willingness to integrate into a collegial, community‑focused culture.

Required skills

• Proficiency with point‑of‑care ultrasound.
• Experience or training in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) techniques.
