Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner (Full-time)

About the role

The Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner (ED NP) at Manitoulin Health Centre provides advanced nursing care in a fast‑paced emergency setting on Manitoulin Island. Working collaboratively with physicians, the ED NP assesses, diagnoses and manages patients presenting with low‑acuity emergencies while supporting higher‑acuity cases under supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat episodic illnesses, injuries and acute exacerbations within NP scope.
• Manage patients classified as CTAS level 4 and 5 independently; assist with level 1‑3 cases under physician direction.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests from an approved list and document care promptly.
• Provide medical orders to nursing staff and act as a clinical leader for the emergency team.
• Serve as a Super User for the Meditech Expanse Emergency Department and Order Management Module.
• Collaborate with external partners, support the satellite chemotherapy department and participate in departmental committees.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a current Nurse Practitioner designation.
• Fully immunized against COVID‑19 with proof of vaccination.
• Ability to work autonomously in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and mandatory in‑service training.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Meditech Expanse Emergency Department and Order Management Module.
