Elementary Long Term Occasional (LTO) Grade 4/5 Homeroom Teacher

About the role

This position is a full‑time (100%) Long Term Occasional (LTO) appointment for an elementary homeroom teacher covering Grades 4 and 5. The role may be extended through December 18, 2026, providing a stable teaching environment within the York Region District School Board.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess curriculum for Grade 4 and Grade 5 students in a homeroom setting.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists, and administrators to support student learning.
• Participate in school events, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development activities.
• Complete required documentation, including grades, attendance, and progress reports.

Required profile

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of becoming qualified before the start date.
• Three professional teaching references for external candidates; internal candidates must include two references, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator.
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.
• Commitment to the YRDSB’s mission of student success and equity.
